Measuring spoons and other stuff

Well I have some really, really, really, really, really bad news.  We planted the seeds without you!  But that is ok, I am going to tell you everything we did. 

First, we got all the stuff we needed, seeds, instructions, water, measuring spoons, pots, water, and dirt.  Then I read the instructions to Max and Nina.

Then we put the soil pellets in the bowl and covered them with the water from the measuring spoons.

Then, we smashed the soil pellets with forks to break up the soil.

After that, we poured the soil into the pots, and sprinkled the seeds on top.

Then Max took the pots and put them in the bay window in the school room in a good patch of sunlight.  And guess what?  They haven't grown a BIT!!  I am going to keep checking and I will let you know when I see something growing.  It should be any minute now.

And Momma put some of our extra seeds on a sponge to see if plants can grow without dirt, but I don't think they are going to.

TOOLS AND GARDENING AND FUN!

Hello, guess what? You get to come to my house soon! Do you know why? Because we are going to plant some fruit and vegetables and flowers! My mom got these little pots and some seeds that have names on them like strawberries and sunflowers and basil and stuff like that! But before you come, you need to pack the stuff we will need. Okay, here is a list of things you need to bring.
(1) shovel
(2) seeds
(3) pots
(4) watering can
(5) GOD
My mom said that once our plants get 3 inches tall, we are going to plant them in the garden in our backyard.  The only way these plants will grow is to give them water and let God give them sunshine.  I will let you know know when it is time to plant them in the ground and you can come over and help!  Right now I am going to go into the house and fix lunch. SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT JUNGLE ANIMALS

Hello! As you can see the title says that there are a little bit of things you need to know about Jungle Animals, and guess what? We get to get to go on a safari! Are you excited?! You are! Well then, lets get started!

Okay, here are some things you need to bring. (1) a notebook. (2) water bottle. (3) a umbrella. (4) a backpack.
(5) a guide book. (6) a raincoat. (7) some snacks. (8) a safari hat. (9) a picnic blanket. (10) a picnic basket.

 Okay, did you get everything packed? You did! Okay lets gets this show on the road! Watch your step as you climb on the bus, take a seat. If you ask me the front seat is the best! Is everyone on the bus?Okay, as you can see the amazon rain forest has lots of trees. No! I did not mean look out your window and there would be some trees! I was just reading from my guide book,. It takes a couple of hours till we get to the Amazon Rain Forest. As I was saying as you can see the rain forest has lots of trees, but some people are cutting down some trees so the animals have no place to live! And we are going to the Rain Forest to find out what kind of animals live there and what they see and do. Okay we are here so stay close together!

On your left you can see a jaguar finishing his meal of a owl. On your right you will see a monkey swinging from the trees. Flying in the air you can see a hummingbird gathering pollen and some butterflies.  Up ahead there is a lion tackling a monkey over some fruit.  Let's find a safe place for our picnic...things are looking dangerous.

Jungle Animals

Once upon a time there lived a toucan who had a lovely beak. And there also lived a macaw. Well the macaw was jealous of the toucan"s lovely beak and wanted it for himself! So one night the macaw sneaked into the toucan"s house and with his feet he tried to pull the toucan"s beak and tried to get it off. Then the toucan woke  up! What are you doing?! He asked. The macaw told him that he was jealous of the toucan"s beak. When he was finished the toucan said that the Ten Commandments said that you are not supposed to want  things that other people have. Oh! Will the Lord forgive me? Said the macaw. Only if you ask him said the toucan. Really? said the macaw. The toucan nodded Now that the macaw knew that he was a sinner he asked the Lord to forgive him of all his sins and the toucan and the macaw lived a happy life unto this day.

THE GREAT SPACE ADVENTURE

Once upon a time in space there lived a king and queen named king James and queen Kelly and they had a son named prince John and they had a princess named princess Sarah. And the king said that there was going to be a ball tonight for Sarah and John! So they got dressed.

Meanwhile in the bad castle there lived a king named king Henry and a queen named Lila and they had prince named Robert they wanted the princess!

At the good castle they were almost ready for the ball then the bad guys burst into the room and grabbed the princess and took her away!But the good guys were smart. in the middle of the night they sneaked into the house and when they got the princess they yelled look what we got! All the bad guys turned to look and the king said get them! There was a great racket until from the last shot the princess fell to the ground. They dug a grave and buried her. But just then the princess shot out of the ground and her dress turned to a sparkly pink dress and they were married and they all lived happily ever after!

Snowy Snowballs

We learned today about Saturn and guess what? Its rings are made out of snowballs! I made a story about it!

Once upon a time a man came up into space and he had a bag of snow. He was going to throw it at the sun to cool it off because everybody was so hot! And when he saw Saturn and how lonely it looked he started to make snowballs and throw them at Saturn and when he was done the rings looked wonderful.

PLANETS!

This is Maya and I am back! And I am done learning about the 4 seasons! Here is a picture of my lapbook that has all of the things we learned about.  Now I am learning about......SPACE! It is so much fun! The first thing that I learned about was the sun!Here are some of the things that I learned, the Sun was created on the fourth day of creation. It is very hot and it gives us heat and it is a medium star! We are going to learn about the planet mercury next! Well I have to go now see you later!

THE DAYS OF FALL.

We are still sad about Bro.Don because he died, his family is sad and our church is sad. Some people in church are sick too.

We are still learning about autumn.  lots of different changes happen during fall.  animals store food and trees lose their leaves.  it also gets colder outside and the days get shorter. we took another leaf walk and separated the leaves in groups of pinnate and palmate. their veins go different direction.  did you you know that leaves make food? they make sugar.

we also made leaf rubbings, that was fun. yesterday we made a book of Autumn and things that happen during autumn.  my birthday is during autumn.  we went outside during the nighttime to see the harvest moon, and that was fun.

A GREAT DAY

We are having lots of fun in school.We went to the Pumpkin Patch on Friday.Guess what we got to do there we got pick apples.It was so much fun at the Pumpkin Patch.And we also learned about Autumn we learned that the leaves are green because there is chlorophyll on it.We also learned about squirrels and that they eat and eat and eat so they will become fat so they will stay warm.I hope you had fun learning,by for now.THE END.

THE 6TH WEEK

We have been learning about the ear this week.  We listened to some music about the 4 seasons and then drew pictures of them. We also took a walk and we picked some leaves, then we went home and made a graph.  We also made a fall tree with colorful sequins. We also read a book about pumpkins to get ready for our field trip to the pumpkin patch tomorrow.  It is going to be so much fun!

I have been doing helping verbs and action verbs in english. It is hard but fun. Max is learning to tell time and the days of the week.  I am adding three rows and it is really hard.

I made a bank that looks like Captain Hook all by myself!  And Max made a mickey mouse puppet.  We made them during quiet time with no help from mom.  We found them in a mickey mouse book.

what is that smell?

In bible we talked about wildcats, and that we should control our anger and that we should be kind and loving to each other. After we did some work, we went to the park with Caleb and Josh and we also ate lunch and rode our bikes there it was fun. Then we went home, at home we played a game we had to hold our nose and taste some food, we did not even know what anything was. We are going to do it again tomorrow. Our nose is very important because if we did not have our nose we would not know what anything was that we ate.

Tall Tales

We had a fun weekend. We went to Mimi's house on Thursday and stayed three days.  We went on a hike yesterday and today we are back at school.  We are learning about Davy Crockett and tale tales.  We made up a tall tale about Max and one about me.

Max runs as fast as a cheetah. His hair is as red as the sunset. He can sleep for weeks at a time and blow a bubble as big as a house and is as tall as the Serious Tower.  He grows as fast as a weed.  He can walk barefoot across broken glass. He can walk on his hands all the way to Florida and he can eat ten plates of food in one minute.

Maya has hair the color of the sun and longer than the Serious Tower.  She can read 100 books in one day and can play the piano like the sound of birds singing.

A tall tale is something that is partly true but it stretches out in a big lie. Davy Crockett did a lot of things that were in the song but there were a lot of things in the song that were not true.

I am learning about contractions and in math I'm doing word problems and telling time and carrying.  We are learning about the nose this week and all the different things we can smell.

Getting Hitched

We started learning Spanish today.  It is really hard to remember the new words! We made our touch and feel book, too. We found things that were soft, smooth, bumpy, prickly, rough, and lots more. Then we glued them on paper and made a book. We also started learning about Davy Crockett. We read a book about him getting hitched.  He was funny.  He ate flap jacks at miss sally's party, so we made flap jacks for lunch.  they were scrumptious!

I started a typing lesson yesterday and by my last try I got 302 right and 24 wrong and 16 words per minute. It is really hard to type and keep your fingers in the right place. I like it and hope it is easier next time. I like playing on the computer.

My mimmie came to visit our school today. She told mommy what she did good and bad.  I get to go to her house in three days!  It will be fun.

     

    

   

Our Fourth Week

We have had a sad week because Bro. Don had a bicycle crash and has been in the hospital. We went to visit his family in the waiting room. They were very sad. We prayed for him all week. I hope that he feels better soon.

We learned about the sense of touch this week. Did you know that there are over 10,000 hair follicles on your head? That is awesome. We are also making a book about touch and feel.  We finished our Lewis and Clark unit, and Mommy said we are going to learn about Davy Crockett next. I had no strikes all week, and Mamaw gave me a makeup set! It was cool.

Max finished learning all his numbers, and he finished his first adding worksheet on Thursday.  He says he loves it. He was so excited that he did another one! Nina has started learning about shapes, she thinks she is in school too.

  

    

experimental day

Last week we finished talking about taste, and today we started learning about the skin and the sense of touch. We are also talking about trust this week in Bible and we are trying to build trust in each other. In english I am doing prepositional phrases again and imperative sentences and reviewing compound subjects and compound verbs. In math I am learning to write and add thousands. We almost finished Treasure Island, it's getting really scary. Jim got his shoulder cut by Israel Hands when he shot at him. Long John Silver is mean and he tries to act nice. I can't wait to finish it. We also rode our bikes to Mamaw's for lunch today and that was fun. I can ride standing up on the pedals now.

magnificent and spectacular day

Today I wrote in my Bible journal and Mommy read us a Bible story, and learned that even if you think something is just a little bit wrong then you are wrong because it isn't. Because something little will turn into something big sometimes and you can't get out. You should just follow God's laws.

I am also learning about compound verbs and I have to mark a lot of sentences. I also learned how to write thousands in math, you have to use a comma.

Today was a lot of fun because we rode our bikes to grannys house for lunch, and when we got back we made cookies with Mommy. It was really fun and spectacular.  We even had our own apron and hat. We tasted every ingredient before we put them in, and some of them were really salty and bitter and sweet. The sugar was the most sweetest. When the cookies were done we got to eat one and a glass of milk. They were splendid. And I loved them. And if you want to make cookies, then Mommy has the recipe.

the mysterious day

I got a new haircut! I wanted it cut really short, but Mommy wanted it long. And I got bangs.


I have been learning about compound subjects, and prepositional phrases. Yesterday we reviewed the
eye, then today we learned about taste buds. Taste buds taste sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. We're going to cook tomorrow with Mommy. I have my own apron to wear. We have been reading some more of Treasure Island, and Jim and his friends just left with the pirates to find the treasure.  I think Long Jon Silver is bad, but I don't know.  We also learned some more about Lewis and Clark, they took a boat up the Missouri River, and they made friends with the Native Americans and stayed with them for the winter. Yesterday we learned about Helen Keller she was a blind and deaf women. She got really sick when she was little and had a fever for a long time. When she woke up, she was deaf and blind. It was sad. We watched a movie about it that was really good.

Day 8

First we learned about Moses and God spoke to him through the burning bush, then we learned about the object of a prepositional phrase. That was hard. I had to draw a line through the noun and circle the preposition. Then I had to do lots of adding problems.  It was really really hard. Then we learned some more about Lewis and Clark  and the volunteers in the Corps of Discovery. His dog Seaman was a volunteer and so was Sacagewea. She translated for them so they could talk to the native americans. Then we went to the library and got books about their expedition and about the human eye. Then we played in the fountains.  It was hot, so that was a lot of fun.

Learning about the eye

Today we heard another bible story about Jesus healing a blind man.  He was blind when he was born so he never saw colors or trees or anything. Jesus used spit and dirt and he told him to go wash in the river, and he could see. We are learning more about prepositions, and we found them in a story. We have a lot more spelling words this week, about the eye.  We learned more parts of the eye today, they are the lens, the cornea, and the sclera.  We watched a video about a kid cutting a cow's eye. (here) It was cool.  We got to hear two more chapters of Treasure Island, it is getting creepy, but I like it. At quiet time we played with the doll house again, and I'm going to have a swimming lesson today. I can't wait.

Monday, a new week

Today our bible lesson was about Jesus making a blind man see, and the man said the trees look like men. So, today we started learning about the eye. We learned about the pupil, the iris, the retina and the optic nerve. We used Max's binoculars to see how the retina focuses. We also watched a video on the computer (here), and it showed us how many little parts are in our eye. I think it is millions. Kailey thought the video was gross because it showed a police man with no skin. We also learned about prepositional phrases, then we did math. During quiet time, we got to play with the new doll house. It is fun.
